Just thinking…
Now, time for a funny! Last year, I read about a woman called Siobhan in England who was celebrating her birthday, and being a big Mariah Carey fan (an American pop-singer, for those who don’t know!), she told her colleagues that she would love a cake with a picture of Mariah Carey on it. Unfortunately, her colleagues misunderstood her and proudly presented her on the day with a beautiful birthday cake decorated with the rather somber picture of Marie Curie – the Polish scientist who pioneered work on radioactivity and who died in 1934. The mistake was understandable, terrifically funny, and when the story (along with a picture of the cake) was shared on social media, it quickly had more than 200,000 likes. The lovely twist at the end of the tale, is that Mariah Carey herself happened to see the post, and tweeted, ‘"This could've been me if only I hadn't failed remedial math. Happy birthday Siobhan!" This is a great reminder that moments of apparent failure and mistake can lead to unexpected blessings and a whole lot of fun … so long as we can laugh at ourselves a little! And I suspect our Lord has a little chuckle too …
In Him,
Murray

This Sunday 17 May…
The First Word is the Last Word: We may often feel we live at the mercy of other people's opinions about us. Job certainly had a lot of opinions about his life directed at him which were hard to take. But whose opinion really matters?
