Just Thinking…

When I was at high-school, we were bombarded by notices for this group and that club and those fundraising events. Noticeboards were scattered around the school at various points bedecked with torn posters and graffiti-ed flyers flapping in the breeze, and so it was quite a challenge to actually secure anyone’s attention about anything. Us students became numbed under the information deluge. Which is why … every so often … you would see a poster with the heading, ‘SEX! Good … now that I have your attention, let me tell you about …’ (fill in the blank with ‘kapa haka’ or the ‘debating team’ or ‘school band practice’ or whatever). I’m sure it’s a tactic that has been around since Adam (picture a poster at Cain and Abel’s school?!) … but people used it because it actually works.

I would never use it, of course.

Much too crude.

Especially in church.

(We don’t use the ‘s’ word in church).

But if I could possibly get your attention, I would like to ask that you either attend church physically this week or view the online service, because in the service, I will be giving some key messages for the year ahead at Remuera Baptist. In a year in which it is hard to know what to expect, I want to let you know about some things that you can expect. It will be good stuff to know. Promise.

Phew. I managed to get your attention without saying ‘sex’. Oops … sorry!

In Him,

This Sunday…
