Just thinking…
There is a nugget of wisdom in the Bible that says this: There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). It reminds me of a funny little ditty called ‘The Spellchecker’.
I have a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye cannot sea
When I strike a quay, right a word
I weight for it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar Wright
It shows me straight a-weigh
As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore it’s two late
And eye can put the error rite
It’s rarely, rarely grate
I’ve run this poem threw it
I’m shore your pleased two no
It’s letter perfect in it’s weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.
In life, there are many things that seem on the surface to sound right, but once we dig a bit deeper, we find they are built on a flawed foundation. Love and justice are popular words in our world today, but scratch through them a bit and we find that love is only pursued until it hurts, and the quest for justice is often selfishness in disguise. True wisdom is found in living as Jesus did, but the ‘What would Jesus do?’ question first depends on us knowing what Jesus actually did. Let’s press into a deep knowledge of him in 2020 so that our way seems right to the Lord.
In Him,
Murray
