Just thinking…
When I was younger, I used to always question why people would dress up nicely for church if God was always with us anyway. Why would he care about what we wore to church and not care about what we wore every day? I think that sometimes when church culture focuses on dressing up, looking our best, or wearing shoes (which I have been known not to do at church), this can reflect negatively on our relationships with one another. We get into this pattern where we come to church as the best version of ourselves rather than the real version of ourselves. In Matthew (11:28) God calls us to come if we are weary or burdened, not if we are feeling positive and like everything is sorted in our lives. He calls us to be honest about where we stand with not only him but others around us. Honesty has a ripple effect on the lives around us. If we are real and authentic about our lives, others will feel they can be too. It is okay to be vulnerable. This Sunday, we will be hearing from a few of our church members who will be giving us an insight into how God is working in their lives. This is a great opportunity for us to start thinking about how we can relate to each other on a more authentic level, so that we can grow individually, and as a faith family in Christ.
